Do hair systems or extensions damage my hair?

The simple answer is no. If applied correctly, and by a trained professional, there is no reason why the systems and practises I use should add any additional damage to your hair. I will photograph your hair between appointments and sessions to monitor growth and any changes. It is important to know that your dedication to the aftercare and upkeep is almost as important as the application and fitting process. You will receive full aftercare advise with additional product recommendations, and please contact me, even after your fitting, with any queries or concerns.

What is the maintenance like?

Maintenance for each method available varies, and also depends on your own aftercare and rate of hair growth. Here is a borderline to go by. I would advise clients to go for the earliest appointment for refits to begin with, and then we can see how the hair wears when there is a longer refit time if it is appropriate to do so.

Mesh Integration

There are two kinds of maintenance appointments for Mesh Integration systems - one which is 4-6 weeks after your initial fitting for a 'pinch forward' where we will readjust the closure and tighten any locks to add security to the system. Then after 10-12 weeks, a full refit will be required where the whole system is removed and washed, your biological hair and scalp are cleansed, and the system is refitted.

Weaves

Weaves (celebrity or invisible) generally require maintenance every 8-10 weeks. In this appointment, the beads are removed, and replaced with new ones and the weft is sewn back into position.

Individuals / Nanos

Individual extensions require maintenance every 6-8 weeks. In this appointment all extensions are removed row by row; the hair is slightly re-sectioned to avoid prolonged pressure on certain sections of hair; and the extensions are reapplied.

What us the process of getting my hair done?

Usually, I will have a conversation with you prior to your consultation about your goals and expectations. We will then have an in person consultation in my private studio where we will assess your hair health, talk about which method is best for you and then colour match you. If you would like to go ahead with the fitting, we will then order the hair for you and arrange a booking for your hair fitting, This is usually at least 48 hours after your consult. Then, you will arrive to your appointment with clean hair and I will fit, blend and style your new system or extensions. I'll then go over correct aftercare and advise of when to book your refit.

Is it expensive?

The initial cost with any new hair fitting is significantly larger than the refits, but this is due to the initial outgoing for cost of hair - which on average lasts you 9 months.

I work with a range of suppliers who have budget and premium range hair, and some also offer payment plans such as Klarna and Clearpay.

If you come to your consultation with your budgets in mind, I will be able to steer you into the right direction and let you know all options available to you and their lifespans.

With any extension and system, it is important to also factor in refits and maintenance appointments into your lifestyle, too. These will be a constant recurring cost.

You can head to our 'Services' section to see an idea of the cost of maintenance for our extension methods.
